Howling Down the Moon Holistic Healing Center is proud to announce the opening of
Grief Therapy Center
Identifying and understanding our grief, what the process is, and how to go through grief with a healthy program, will bring wellness through balance and harmony.
In 1984 after doing extensive training in grief therapy, both traditional schooling and Native American tradition studies for the healing of grief related concerns, April had opened and taught classes on dealing with grief. These classes offered a special blend of her traditional and native teachings which aided and assisted many. Her clinic, Future Shaping Your Life, looked at the whole person for their healing process.
In 1988 after a near fatal accident placed April and her young children in the need to heal from the trauma of this accident, they all realized they needed to begin a life journey of total healing for themselves and others.
In 1986 April’s travels took her took to Israel, Amman Jordan, and Arabia. She traveled with a contemporary missionary group and had the privilege of seeing solemn faces turn to smiles, this was rewarding in ways that can never be put to words.
After moving to Colorado in 1989 her therapy center was relocated and operated in Fort Collins for three years. Her continued training brought clients a wealth of wisdom on healing and moving through all forms of grief.
Then in 1993 the clinic was moved to Summit Country Colorado where with the opening of Howling Down the Moon, Mountain and Denver offices, April continued her business of offering answers on how to heal from the pain of grief.
In 1994 April’s training and knowledge were put to the test upon the death of her father. With the aid of her mentor and teacher, April began her personal use of the techniques of grief releasement. This experience brought her to a new spiritual awareness of healing grief.
When Howling Down the Moon Holistic Center opened in Alaska it became a household name, but the grief center was not re-opened. Rather than being a formal center for grief therapy, April assisted those who were lead to her to work through their grieving on a one on one basis.
In 2005 April was given the opportunity to explore her own grief healing skills with the loss of her husband, her best friend and twin flame, and one of their pets. Having the tools and skills developed, April found that having a knowledge and basis of working through the grief process that wellness in the face of all forms of grief can be achieved.
April has witnessed many family and friends pass over the years and is not shy of the death or grieving processes or seeing the sorrow which fills the world today. In 2007 April traveled and worked with a group of people while in Ireland aiding and assisting as they process through life experiences, with grief being one of the issues.
Recently while doing a spiritual meditation circle it was realized that it is now time to re-develop and re-open the Grief Therapy Center through Howling Down the Moon. Having a degree in grief counseling from a church organization, a grief therapy certificate, a bachelors in psychology, associates in parapsychology, a PhD in Holistic Healing Modalities, and having Ordained Ministerial Credentials along with her Native American traditional teachings the center has a fabulous basis and background to bring to Alaska one of the methods available to compliment contemporary medicine in dealing with grief.
Each grief event has a beginning, a life, and should then cycle to a healthy end. Grief for each person is as individualized as that person. Grief can be from the loss of a loved one, a family member death or becoming terminal, the loss of a pet, to not getting a job applied for, or losing a job, having been in an accident, having been in abusive relationships, separations in relationships, divorce, the list becomes endless. Everyone faces the challenges of grief everyday on many different levels. Recognizing the onset of the grief, the life that we give to grief, the ending and releasement of grief are all tools which everyone can benefit from. Grief may leave the scars of anger, resentment, frustration, depression, lack of self worth and/ or self esteem, feeling the need to make others look bad or lesser in order to make oneself appear well, repetitively becoming the victim, becoming self destructive, grief can and often times wears a mask hiding the beauty of the person suffering.
The grief center will be opening in February 2008 at the 1375 E Parks Ave Howling Down the Moon Holistic Healing Center. Along with the already spectacular services being offered, they will begin to offer personal one on one grief therapy sessions. An itinerary of lectures and workshops will soon be developed, where the tools to wellness will be presented. The center will also be offering weekly meditation and workshop formats for those dealing with grief. Watch for the release of information for when the center will be offering these events, also should you be on a grief path and need someone to visit with, call to schedule a private one on one session. One on one sessions will be 50.00 per hour. The Grief Center will also offer a sliding scale fee schedule for those in need of assistance.
No “one” grief is greater or lesser than another, and all grief may be healed bringing balance and harmony to those suffering.
